LAST MINUTE VOTING

For those of you among the 20-30% of voters who have left their postal vote till the last minute and are now searching for information on the candidates, we have brought together all the information included in our previous 2020 election posts.

    • Candidates Statements (a.k.a. election platforms) which were included the ballot mail out
    • Candidates “How to Vote” (preference distributions) – always a good indicator of candidates alliances.  Remember, you are not obliged to follow any candidates preferences.   
    • Links to the Community “Meet the Candidates” Forum Videos – the candidates responses to residents questions and their interactions with other candidates is particularly informative.  Each Forums Q&A sessions occurs approx. 30 minutes into the video.

CAMDEN WARD

Remember for your vote to be counted

  • Your ballot paper must number all boxes and

  • Must be postmarked no later than  6.00 p.m. on Friday, 23/10/2020.

VIDEO’s RELEASED – 2020 COUNCIL ELECTION ON-LINE COMMUNITY FORUMS

No frills or bells and whistles added – just a straight Zoom “as it happened” video of the 3 co-hosted (Glen Eira Residents Association and Save Glen Eira Association)  2020 Council Election On-Line Community Forums.   3 forums were held – one for each Ward in Glen Eira (Camden, Rosstown and Tucker).   The duration of each video is approx. 2 hours – so put the kids to bed and settle back to watch.

CAMDEN WARD – 3 vacancies, 13 candidates.  12 candidates attended the 6/10/2020 forum. 

ROSSTOWN WARD – 3 vacancies, 13 candidates.  9 candidates attended the 7/10/2020 forum 

TUCKER WARD – 3 vacancies, 10 candidates.  7 candidates attended the 8/10/2020 forum

The format for each forum was

  • Introduction
  • Candidate Presentations (limited to 3 minutes)
  • Q&A Session – questions were lodged via Chat functionality and presented to the Candidates by forum moderators. Candidate responses were limited to 2 minutes.
  • Close of Forum.

Feedback from residents from all 3 forums was extremely positive and specifically mentioned how the candidates’ responses and interactions during the Q&A session had helped them decide who to vote for.

Remember – Ballot papers are being delivered now. For your vote to be counted it must be completed and be postmarked no later than 6.00 p.m.  on 23rd October, 2020
